Gynecologic Cancers

Malignancies of the female reproductive organs, though not as common as breast cancer, affect many women in the United States. They represent about 6% of all cancers and about 13% of cancers diagnosed in women. The organs affected are the ovaries and Fallopian tubes, the uterus or womb, the cervix , the vagina, and the vulva. Many different modalities of therapy may be appropriate treatment for these gynecologic malignancies, and often these modalities which include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy are used concurrently as treatment. As your radiation oncologist, we at Radiation Medical Group work closely with your gynecologic oncologist, your gynecologist, your medical oncologist, and your primary care physician to design the best treatment program for your particular gynecologic malignancy. This can only be done after careful review of your pathology, surgery and imaging studies. With several offices around San Diego County, we try and make your treatments as convenient for as is possible, as we recognize what a difficult time this is for you.
